Electric bike: How much it costs, how it works - Everything you need to know

Electric bikes are increasingly becoming part of our lives - What consumers need to know about their operation and costs.

The electric bicycle has emerged as a new trend of the time, for commuting without a negative environmental mark, a fact that was also proven by the applications for the purchase of electric vehicles - through a subsidy - in the program of the Ministry of Environment and Energy.

It is no coincidence that from the first hours of operation of the kinoumeilektrika platform, the electric bicycle was first in the preferences of buyers, with a percentage of 80%. Specifically, within the first 18 hours, 742 applications were made.

Electric bike: How it works - How much it costs

The electric bike is the same as the conventional one, except that it has an electric motor to give it a boost on the uphill and difficult routes. With the technology that exists today, one can travel up to 100 kilometers with an electric bicycle for only 25 euro cents, i.e. the price we pay for one kilowatt hour of electricity at home.

It is also important to make it clear that electric bikes are bikes. That is, we need to pedal for them to move. According to European legislation, electric bikes are considered to have pedal assist, not throttle on the handlebars. Some bicycles that have appeared on the market with throttle on the handlebars are not considered bicycles, but electric scooters, which need a license and a license.

The electric bike has a 250 W motor and a battery that are intended to assist the cyclist in pedaling and make cycling on any terrain much more comfortable. Simply put, it makes even the biggest uphills feel almost like downhills, so the cyclist can move without breaking a sweat or getting tired.

Electric road bikes are powered mainly by the leg muscles and the electric motor works as a support. That is, the road bike only moves as long as we push the pedal with our feet. Then the electric motor takes over to support and multiply the force we gave pedals and in this way we achieve the maximum performance with the minimum.

Its prices vary, reaching up to 3,000 euros in some cases.
